Telemark Research Institute (TRI) is an independent, regionally based research institute with clients and projects throughout Norway as well as internationally.
The institute is highly competitive in five academic areas: cultural policy research; rural, cultural and economic development; research on regional attractiveness; local public finance and organisation; and health and welfare studies. Some of this research is also of high international relevance.
TRI is an independent foundation employing about 30 researchers. Our clients are ministries, directorates, counties, municipalities, regional councils, companies and organisations from around the country, and we take part in European research projects as well. TRI provide applied research by combining practice-oriented knowledge with high scientific quality. Our research results are disseminated and utilised in society. Our goal is that our research will make a difference - knowledge can and must foster progress.
TRI receives annually about 10 % grants from the Research Council of Norway as a basic funding, and the institute is member of FFA (Association of Norwegian Research Institutes).
